8 Day Tour – North of the island of Ireland

If you prefer a less classic tour, if you want to see  “the two parts Ireland”,  visit their capitals and to hear about their tumultuous history, to travel along breathtaking coast roads, to pass through green valleys, cliffs, beaches, villages, towns… this tour is for you ! This 8 day tour will let you visit four of the biggest cities in Ireland (Dublin, Belfast, Derry and Galway), two National Parks (Glenveagh and Connemara), to spend evenings in local pubs like you’ll only see in Ireland, to breath the fresh air but also to have an insight into the Republic of Ireland but also Northern Ireland, so different and fascinating. You’ll come back feeling different and well educated from this tour.

At your arrival, you will be welcomed by your guide and your driver.
Depending on the time of arrival, you will be brought to the city centre of Dublin where you will have a panoramic city tour of the Irish Capital.

After breakfast, you will leave by bus in Dublin city centre to do a panoramic city tour of the capital (if not done on day 1). You will be able to do some visits of your choice.

After lunch, you will enjoy some free time to wander around the streets and to breathe the fresh Dublin air.
In the afternoon, you will leave Dublin to head towards Northern Ireland and will arrive in Belfast.
You will settle down in your hotel.

After your breakfast, you will do a panoramic city tour of the capital of Northern Ireland to discover, among others, the modern Titanic quarter, the city centre with its sumptuous city hall and the areas where the troubles happened in the 70’s, 80’s… After the city tour, you will enjoy come free time before leaving more North.
Departure for the Antrim coast. This road follows the North East coast of the island and goes through villages. You will pass by the “Nine glens” of Antrim and, by clear weather; you might be able to catch sight of Scotland far away.

The beginning of the afternoon will be dedicated to discovering the Giant’s causeway. This site, classified by the UNESCO is a must see when coming to Northern Ireland. It was formed 60 Million years ago by a volcanic eruption and is made of 40 000 column in basalt. A path along the cliffs and at their foot will let you visit the site at your rhythm.
After the visit, you will continue towards your hotel not far from the Giant’s causeway.

After your breakfast, you will leave by bus to Derry city where you will do a walking tour. This city is the second biggest in Northern Ireland and has been an important site during the troubles. It is known as well for its still intact 17th century fortification walls.

In the afternoon, you will leave Derry to travel to the county of Donegal. You will stop at Grianan of Aileach Hill to have a 360° view from a stone circle dating back from 1700 years BC.
You will then arrive at your hotel in the county of Donegal, the most Northern one on the island.

After your breakfast, you will go to Glenveagh National Park. One of the 6 National Parks in Ireland, Glenveagh spreads on 16 000 hectares in the Derrybeagh mountains. You will take a walk in the park, the gardens and you will visit the castle.
Lunch en route.
In the afternoon, you will head towards your hotel passing by the county of Sligo and its diversity of landscapes. From hills to beaches, there will be spectacular views. You will stop near Ben Bulben hill, in Drumcliff graveyard where the poet William Butler Yeats is buried, Literature Nobel Prize.
Continue to the county of Mayo and Westport town.

After breakfast, you will leave and head towards Connemara National Park.
This park is characterised by large boglands, low density of population, hills, lakes and rivers.
You will drive through the enchanting scenery stopping from time to time to take it all in. You will pass charming villages like Cong or Leenane, made famous with movies made there.

In the afternoon, you will continue your visit of the park passing by Kylemore abbey.
You will then travel to Galway city.

After your breakfast, you will leave Galway to cross over the country in the direction of Dublin.
You will pass by central lands with nearly no hill that are called the “Midlands”.

In the afternoon, you will arrive in Dublin.

After your breakfast and depending on your departure time, you will enjoy some free time in Dublin to do some visits at your choice or to wander around the streets of the capital.
